Thanks God, We Have Computer Game Instead

The story of Dr Jekyll is quite famous around the world, however, Dr Jekyll himself is a typical tragic person. He is a kind and wise doctor in front of the public, but might not wise enough to adjust himself. As an old saying goes: every coin has two sides. Dr Jekyll also has his own negative side, which finally become Mr. Hide. Mr. Hide is always hunger for violence, and all the bad things he did tell us that too. People may treat him as a criminal, but to me, he is just unable to find a way to abreact.

It really doesn’t matter if you are a man lives in 19th century or comes from stone age, we are all people, we all have feelings, we all have our own Mr. or Ms Hide, the only question is, can you find a way to maintain your mental health? Maybe we can’t afford to have our own psychological consultant, but we CAN play games to relax ourselves, or realize any wildest dream in this virtual world. Imaging this, once our Dr Jekyll has some evil minds, he can turn to his computer for help. Maybe he can play some action games to satisfy his desire for “passion”, just like people today. Since the video game is always about the adventures of some superheroes, the game will guide him to the daydreaming of everything good but a criminal. As soon as he feels good again, then he will never try to become Mr. Hide in the reality. Maybe you will consider this as a na?ve idea, but computer game does reduce the crime rate in America.
Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens’, is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century.

The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London.

The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.

How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.

For me, the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodness is to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. On the contrary, as the famous saying goes, ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’, he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.

To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness’, they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.

Francis Bacon said in his essay, ‘Goodness, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.’

That is to say a person without goodness is destined to lose everything. Therefore, I, a kind person, want to tell those ‘vermin-to-be’ to learn from the kind Oliver and regain the nature of goodness.
Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters.

The characters have their own personalities. Mrs. Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. Mr. Bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, Mr. Darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. Even the five daughters in Bennet family are very different. Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. Mary likes reading classic books. (Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same personalities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century.

The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austen’s favourite topic. But this little topic can reflect big problems. It concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in Britain in her century. You can find these from the very beginning of this book.

Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.

before i read this book, i had watched a cartoon movie made by japan. so i have a strong interest on it.

it all begins in the dead of winter; the christmas season. the coldest one of all, were the war has made fuel for heating very scarce. while her husband is off at war, marmee is left alone to raise their four daughters: jo, meg, beth, and amy.

on christmas eve, marmee has just arrived home from passing out food to the less fortunate with a letter from her husband, the girls' father. the all gather together around the fire to read the letter. afterwards, the girls are teary eyed. marmee kisses them and they are off to bed.

jo is longing to become a writer. so, every night she stays up late writing the script for soap operas. as morning comes she is the last one awake. the table is set, and food prepared for their christmas feast.

as dusk falls, the girls are all up in the attic acting out jo's play, which she reads from the local (fake) newspaper. as they are performing, their rich, next-door neighbors grandson watches from the window.

the 2 oldest girls: jo and meg, get ready to attend the christmas ball. while jo is curling meg's hair, there is a strange smell to the

air. amy screams, megs hair is being singed. they continue digging through the old clothes bin for a pair of white gloves.

one of the prominent themes in little women is the coming of age or maturation of the girls. during the course of the novel we see them grow in many ways -- physically, intellectually, and especially emotionally. one question which readers must ask themselves is whether the views the characters have on the coming of age process are shared by alcott. if they aren't, what are alcott's views and how do they differ from those of the women in her story?

it is interesting to examine the last half of chapter 20,

"confidential." jo addresses the maturation issue as she speaks with marmee of the situation between meg and mr. brooke. the possible love between these two represents one of the very important aspects in coming of age for a teenage girl. jo treats this natural process as if it were some sort of disease, however. jo cannot understand why meg would want to stop behaving "like a sensible creature" (p.202), and refers to love as "such nonsense."《阿甘正传》英语读后感"mom always said life is just like a box of chocoles. you'll never know what you gonna get."

  Pursuit for dreams

  —after reading The Great Gatsby

I have heard of the famous novel The Great Gatsby for many years. However, until recently have

I got the time and mood to read it. As soon as I finish reading, I find my previous unwarranted assumption of it totally wrong.

This is a story about Gatsby and his pursuit for the ‘American dreams’. During the World War One, the poor soldier Gatsby fell in love with an upper class girl named Daisy. But due to the wide gap between them, Daisy decided to marry Tom, a man of her class, instead of Gatsby. Broken-hearted Gatsby then held the conviction that money was of the greatest importance. He strongly believed in the ‘American dreams’, which as we all know, advocates that one can achieve whatever he or she likes through continuous efforts. He strived for five years to become a millionaire and bought a villa near Daisy’s to attract her. He was too addicted to his fantasy to realize that Daisy was no longer the lovely girl she used to be. Eventually, he was killed because of her crime.

After reading it, something reverberates in my heart. I can’t help thinking of the theme Fitzgerald trying to convey. One thing may be the lonely void of people’s spiritual world. I am deeply impressed by chapter 3, where a vivid description of a party is given.

There were beautiful girls, drunk men, and boisterous crowds there, but none of them perceived the pointless of their lives and the barren of their minds. To see this phenomenon deeper, there were two circumstances underlying it. The first is the lack of dreams. Some people, especially the people of the upper class, lived an aimless life. They wasted their time and money and took an indifferent attitude towards life. They chased for temporary ecstasy but lost their identity in eternity, namely Daisy and Tom. The second is the misleading of dreams. Some others like Gatsby, bravely pursued their dreams, yet going to a diverged way unconsciously. They might mix up the concept of a richer life and a happier life, viewing a higher social state and a peaceful fulfilled life as equality. Unfortunately, when they were busy chasing their dreams, everything changed with time. When they were anxious about the to-gets, they ignored what they had already had and lost the alert to the constant changes. The excellent use of symbolization illustrates this idea perfectly. The imagery of ‘green light’ is the most important symble which occurred three times in the novel. The green-light’s obscure in the mist indicates the dim of Gatsby’s dreams.

As far as I am concerned, this story can serve as a reminder for us. To live a meaningful life, we should carefully choose some dreams to pursue. And in the process of fulfilling our dreams, we

should always be concious about what we really desire. Anyhow, only by pursuing the proper dreams can we finally get to the deep springs of happiness.

This is a story about a special and ueserved woman who has been exposed to a hostile environment but continuously and fearlessly struggling for her ideal life. The story can be interpreted as a symbol of the independent spirit.

It seems to me that many readers’ English reading experience starts with Jane Eyer. I am of no exception. As we refer to the movie “Jane Eyer”, it is not surprising to find some differences because of its being filmized and retold in a new way, but the spirit of the novel remains----to be an independent person, both physically and mentally.

Jane Eyer was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as a ragtag. Since Jane’s education in Lomon person, just the same as any other girl around. The suffers from being humiliated and devastated teach Jane to be persevering and prize dignity over anything else.As a reward of revolting the ruthless oppression, Jane got a chance to be a tutor in Thornfield Garden. There she made the acquaintance of lovely Adele and that garden’s owner, Rochester, a man with warm heart despite a cold face outside. Jane expected to change the life from then on, but fate had decided otherwise: After Jane and Rochester fell in love with each other and got down to get marry, she unfortunately came to know in fact Rochester had got a legal wife, who seemed to be the shadow following

Rochester and led to his moodiness all the time ----Rochester was also a despairing person in need of salvation. Jane did want to give him a hand, however, she made up her mind to leave, because she didn’t want to betray her own principles, because she was Jane Eyer. The film has finally got a symbolist end: Jane inherited a large number of legacies and finally returned. After finding Rochester’s misfortune brought by his original mad wife, Jane chose to stay with him forever.

I don’t know what others feel, but frankly speaking, I would rather regard the section that Jane began her teaching job in Thornfield as the film’s end----especially when I heard Jane’s words “Never in my life have I been awaken so happily.” For one thing, this ideal and brand-new beginning of life was what Jane had been imagining for long as a suffering person; for another, this should be what the audiences with my views hoped her to get. But the professional judgment of producing films reminded me to wait for a totally different result: There must be something wrong coming with the excellence----perhaps not only should another section be added to eich the story, but also we may see from the next transition of Jane’s life that “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you would get.” (By Forrest Gump’s mother, in the film “Forrest Gump”)

What’s more, this film didn’t end when Jane left Thornfield. For Jane Eyer herself, there should always be somewhere to realize her great ideal of being independent considering her fortitude, but for Rochester, how he can get salvation?

The film gives the answer tentatively: Jane eventually got back to Rochester. In fact, when Jane

met Rochester for the first time, she scared his horse and made his heel strained, to a certain extent, which meant Rochester would get retrieval because of Jane. We can consider Rochester’s experiences as that of religion meaning. The fire by his frantic wife was the punishment for the cynicism early in his life. After it, Rochester got the mercy of the God and the love of the woman whom he loved. Here we can say: human nature and divinity get united perfectly in order to let such a story accord with the requirements of both two sides. The value of this film may be due to its efforts to explore a new way for the development of humanism under the faith of religion.

Life is ceaselessly changing, but our living principles remain. Firmly persisting for the rights of being independent gives us enough confidence and courage, which is like the beacon over the capriccioso sea of life. In the world of the film, we have found the stories of ourselves, which makes us so concerned about the fate of the dramatis personae.

In this era of rapid social and technological change leading to increasing life complexity and psychological displacement, both physical and mental effects on us call for a balance. We are likely to find ourselves bogged down in the Sargasso Sea of information overload and living unconsciousness. It’s our spirit that makes the life meaningful.

Heart is the engine of body, brain is the resource of thought, and great films are the mirrors of life. In

dubitably, “Jane Eyer” is one of them.

Since I read the book summer adventure, the wonderful plot and vivid language of the story always come to my mind.

In the story, Ma Xiaotiao and Xiao Africas bravery and resourcefulness left a deep impression on me. They made a big scene in the game restaurant and let go a lot of precious wild animals; They also found a black bear in a house. They tactfully sent the information to the "black bear protection center" and the black bear was saved; They used the clever plan of "killing chickens to show monkeys" to scare away the bad monkeys who make trouble everywhere. They used their intelligence to protect these small animals from any harm.

After reading this book, I deeply feel that animals are good friends of human beings. We should try our best to protect and love them.

Super mayor is one part of the naughty bag horse jump. This book tells us that Ma xiaojump is going to run for the super mayor of the simulated city, the prodigy Lin Zicong and angels cousin. He thinks this is phoenix game, but the chicken runs to stir up. Ding Wentao, the young adult, thinks that if the elephant and the ant must be put together, the elephant will only step on the ant, But the iron brothers Tang Fei of Ma xiaojump, Zhang Da and Maochao, however, supported the small jump, and they co-ordinated them to help Ma xiaojump cross the pass. Ma xiaojump finally achieved his wish, not only became super mayor, but also held equal dialogue with the real mayor on TV on behalf of the children in the city.

There is a word to tell us that there is no difficulty in matters, just afraid of the heart of people.

This story tells us that we should not give up. If we strive to strive for this desire, we can achieve it. If we fail, we can strive for it step by step, step by step, and meet this desire. There is no best, only better.

"Learning chess" is about teaching two students to play chess in Qiqiu. One of the students is absorbed in learning and only listens to Qiqius instruction. Although another student was also listening to Qiqius lecture, he always thought that there was a swan flying in the sky and wanted to shoot it down with a bow and arrow. Although this student and that dedicated student study together, but the result is far inferior to others.

In life, there are many examples, such as some students in our class, they are very smart, not inferior to other students, but always cant get high marks, because their heart is no longer in class, their mind is always thinking of some computer games. And those students who can study in a down-to-earth way are very stable because they can listen attentively in class.

In the future study and life, we should be like the dedicated students, seriously do everything, let oneself continue to progress.

Today, I seriously read a story called "little black fish" at home.

The story mainly tells that in a corner of the sea, a group of happy little red fish were eaten by a fast, fierce and hungry tuna, and only one little black fish escaped. The little black fish swam to the depth of the sea alone and saw a group of little red fish. They are afraid of being eaten by big fish. The little black fish taught them to swim together and became the biggest fish in the sea. The big fish scared away.

In this story, I like little black fish best, because it is smart, witty and brave. We have to learn from it.

This story tells us that as long as we unite as one and work together, we can overcome difficulties.

Chen Siyu exchanged books with me. She gave me a book called princess story. When I first got this book, I thought it was very good-looking, but at the end, it was a very childish book, which I read when I was in kindergarten.

All the stories in this book are about princesses and princesses. At the end of each story, they are married. Princesses are kind and beautiful, princes are handsome and smart. There are also some hateful witches in the story. They all want to hurt the princess and dont let the princess marry the prince, but in the end, their magic power fails.

Because I usually like to listen to storytelling, mainly to tell some ancient stories, so when I read these princess stories again, I dont feel interested.

Huihong country is the society I pursue and yearn for. There, people dont need to be suspicious of people, and they dont need to be wary of people and things around them. In todays society, there are too many factors that make us uneasy. It seems that we may be robbed by thieves, cheated by unscrupulous businessmen and abducted by human traffickers at any time. Sometimes calm down and think about it. Whats the matter now? We become more and more suspicious. When we reach out to help others, we all hesitate: does he really need help, or does he have another intention for me? Why cant we think of others as simple?

"Gullivers travels" tells me that we should live a pure life, not because of the cruelty of society, and suffer from "suspicious disease", lose the most real self. We are all members of this society. Together, we form the whole society. Society is what we are.

After reading the story of "Mammy and orphan leopard", I feel very sad.

As soon as the orphan leopard was born, her mother died. It was the goats milk mother who fed the orphan leopard with her own milk. They lived happily together.

But leopard and sheep are natural enemies.

The orphan leopard accidentally killed the little white sheep and bit the head of the sheep, so the sheep were afraid to stay away from them.

In order to protect her partner, the grey forehead nurse pushed the orphan leopard down the cliff, but she was reluctant to feed herself. The orphan leopard also jumped off the cliff and died together.

How sad I am!

The mother loves the child, the child also loves the mother, therefore we must listen to the mothers words.

There is only a mother in the world. A child without a mother is like a grass.

Today, I read an article called Hunter hyebb. After reading this article, I was deeply moved by the hero of the story.

In the story, hailib knows the good news, brave, honest and kind. In order to live with the little dragon girl, he would rather go to Yaoshan, where there are many beasts and stand at the dangerous peak, and take the precious stone "pull the river dry" to force the Dragon King to return the little dragon girl to him. The Dragon King gave hailibu a gem.

But it was not long. Hailib knew that the flood was coming with the gemstones that knew the animal language. He could convince the people for the safety of the people. He said the stones, heard the animal talk and the animals relocation, and finally turned into a human stone. It can be seen that hailib rewarded the people who gave him his support, knew the good news, and he loved the people better than his wife. How awe it was!

Gulliver also went to the land of the English magicians, where he went back to the politics of ancient Rome, not the British system. At this time, his thought has changed from supporting the monarchy to supporting the Republic, but he only praised the patriarchal society in the "natural state".

If this view still belongs to "romantic retrogression", Gullivers description of zhimaguo points out the corrosion of civilized society to the people, indicating that only people living in a natural state. Is pure and noble.

The residents of Zhima are divided into two categories: Yahoo, which looks like a beast, and Zhima, which is intelligent and can speak. Yahoo represents the greed and corruption of human beings, while Er Zhima lives in the primitive good society. It goes without saying that if human beings degenerate, they will be no different from animals. How sad that is!

These difficulties stem from the nature of our emotional system and the prevailing norms in modern society. He began to go home. He had eaten no food that day. He began to want food. He came to the apples, and he was glad to take them out of the dust and eat them.
Do not throw good things away; you may be glad to have them at some other time.

The City Mouse and the Country Mouse
Once there were two mice. They were friends. One mouse lived in the country; the other mouse lived in the city. After many years the Country mouse saw the City mouse; he said, "Do come and see me at my house in the country." So the City mouse went. The City mouse said, "This food is not good, and your house is not good. Why do you live in a hole in the field? You should come and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone. You would have nice food to eat. You must come and see me at my house in the city."
The Country mouse went to the house of the City mouse. It was a very good house. Nice food was set ready for them to eat. But just as they began to eat they heard a great noise. The City mouse cried, " Run! Run! The cat is coming!" They ran away quickly and hid.
After some time they came out. When they came out, the Country mouse said, "I do not like living in the city. I like living in my hole in the field. For it is nicer to be poor and happy, than to be rich and afraid."

Through this story let me know to be trusorthy, promised to other people's things cannot go back. As good as gold will allow you to make many friends. The bad faith of the people would not have true friends.
