认识你自己（know yourself）

苏格拉底总是自称一无所知。他的名言就是：认识你自己。

其哲学意义在于：由强调知识的作用，从而强调人的地位，是人文主义的体现。他认为人必须具有知识，才能达到善；无知是一切罪恶的首要根源。他把道德和知识合二为一，认为道德行为必须以知识为基础，最高的知识就是对“善”这个概念的认识，而善包括健康、财富、地位、荣誉以及正义、勇敢等美德。
