我的大学现在到了一个我曾经作过很多设想的阶段，在这个阶段，我似乎终于有时间来做一些自己想做的事情了。我做的第一件事是看完了以前断断续续看过一半的《飘》，这说来是有些惭愧的。这部小说的成就倒是值得我这样重视，只是它太流行了，读一部妇孺皆知的小说，对一个虚荣心有些重的人来说，并不是一件十分愉快的事。然而这种不愉快我却是乐意去忍受的，只因为书中有艾希礼这个人。最初我是想要读英文原著的，不过读了几十页之后，我终于还是去买来了人民文学出版社的译著，因为我了解艾希礼的急迫心情，已经彻底压倒了读一本英文原著的雄心。记得在某一个午后，我就是受了这本书的蛊惑，和一个人谈到了“贵族”这个概念。我记得这个词是引起了对方的一些共鸣的。我们俩都认为生活中的某些美感，唯有具备了某些必备的能力的人才能够去欣赏，具备这样的能力的人，我们可以称之为“贵族”，如果他还幸运地拥有地位和财富的话，他成为贵族的可能性就更大了。我当时无疑是这样想的，而对方也无疑是这样想的，这一点我完全可以肯定。我所不能肯定的是，对方是否自认为是一个贵族呢？对方是否认为我自认为是一个贵族呢？这些于我而言，都曾是很重要的问题，因为虽是离我们生活极为遥远的话题，我却希望我们之间是有共识的。然而时过境迁，我对这两个问题已经失去考证的兴趣了。

斯佳丽永远不会有这种悲剧式的思维方式，她如果想要一样东西，就会用尽一切手段去争取，她从来不会想到，有时候放弃和失去乃是一种宿命，她总以为，她一定可以得到的。她回应艾希礼的是一记响亮的耳光，并伤心地看着他默默离去。斯佳丽的这一番大闹被一个叫瑞德·巴特勒的人无意中全部听到，并因此彻底地引起了他对她的注意。作为史上最任性女主人公，斯佳丽为了让艾希礼伤心，草率地答应了媚兰的弟弟查尔斯的求婚，并且在艾希礼结婚的前一天举行了婚礼。婚后不久，查尔斯和艾希礼便先后赶赴前线，投入南北战争之中。可怜的查尔斯还没来得及与敌人照面就在军营中患病死去，而艾希礼在军队中一直表现英勇，获得了军队的嘉奖。
假如这场战争是南方取胜，或者永远不要结束，那么艾希礼还会是那个完美无暇的艾希礼。但正如艾希礼所看到的，在这场战争中，南方除了自大而英勇的士兵之外一无所有，面对工业的北方，他们唯一的结果只能是失败。艾希礼与其他人的不同之处在于，他明知道会失败，但义无反顾地战斗；其他人是为了荣誉而战，而艾希礼则知道他是为了维护自己的生活方式而战。所有的人中他最清醒，因而也最绝望。绝望，却英勇地战斗，在战斗中迎接末日的到来。这就是悲剧的精神，而我们高贵的艾希礼，对这一种精神比任何人都有更深切的理解和感受。他不愧是我的英雄。
可是这一部小说，它的目的就是要对我的英雄加以无情的嘲弄。
当亚特兰大陷落时，斯佳丽在瑞德的帮助下从死人堆中逃了出来。回到塔拉农场，她见到的只有一个失去神智的父亲和一帮不断喊饿的仆人。塔拉的女主人，她一直视为最终依靠的母亲已经患病死去。如今她必须顶替母亲的位置，一个人将塔拉肩负起来，并且她比母亲面对着更为恶劣的环境。为了保住塔拉，她甚至必须战斗并且开枪杀死一个北军士兵。在最困难的日子里，唯一能够给她一些帮助的是那个瘦弱文静的媚兰。不过塔垃总算是保住了，当地里的棉花收起来时，日子似乎要渐渐好起来了。
战争结束了，艾希礼终于回来了。十二橡树村已经被烧毁，他只能投靠斯佳丽的塔拉，况且媚兰和她刚生下的儿子早就在这里了。他开始了一种新的生活，他过去所擅长的一切，包括音乐、诗歌、骑马，以及战斗中的英勇，此时都已没有任何用处。他最需要做的，是成为一个好的农人。但是他似乎永远也不可能做到，当斯佳丽心疼地看着他用斧子笨拙地劈柴的时候，这一点再明显不过了。

可惜的是，邦妮死了，任性的斯佳丽将所有的责任推到瑞德身上，让他悲剧欲绝，整个心彻底死去。接着媚兰也死了，艾希礼在失去这位伟大妻子的悲痛中才明白，自己原来一直是爱着媚兰的。斯佳丽看着眼前惶惑无主的艾希礼，有生以来第一次明白了他，于是她心里一尊美丽的雕像在一刹那间崩坍。她终于明白，她只是做了一件漂亮的衣服，当他遇见艾希礼的时候，就把这件衣服穿在了他身上，从此她误以为自己爱他爱得比山高比海深，其实她爱的只不过是这件衣服。而艾希礼对她，她终于知道，正如瑞德所说的，他爱她，但是与心灵无关。是的，与心灵无关，这是那个曾经把他放在心灵的圣殿里每日祈求膜拜的女子也要轻视的。
但是一切的领悟和悔恨都太晚了，当艾希礼和斯佳丽这两个彼此相爱却不能在一起的人终于明白，他们最珍贵的东西其实一直就在他们身边的时候，媚兰已经死去不可复生了。而瑞德的感情也终于被消磨尽了，他对这个得到了整个世界却还没有灵魂的孩子已经失去了兴趣，他说，只有一个孩子才会这样顽固，这样感觉迟钝。当瑞德·巴特勒在南方已经被彻底击败的时候决定加入残军作最后一战的时候，我们就已知道，在这个浪子的心中，在并不接纳他的这个地方，有些东西是值得用生命去捍卫的，于是他在最后一刻也像艾希礼去作一种悲剧意义的战斗。只不过，当这出悲剧结束时，他没有像艾希礼一样恨不得用整个余生来为旧时代哀叹，而是回到了现实中，回到了斯佳丽的身边，继续作他的浪子，同时也作一个怀着成熟的爱情冷静地等待着这个感觉迟钝的孩子的悲剧角色。不错，还是悲剧角色，一个最清醒的悲剧角色。
关于悲剧，我想起了叔本华的一段话：

　　《飘》，是我最喜爱的书。喜欢斯佳丽的勇敢坚强，喜欢瑞特的机智果断，喜欢玫兰妮的外柔内刚。
　　对于斯佳丽这个人物，我的感觉是矛盾的，是讨厌却又不得不敬佩她。她是个非常有个性的人物，她一生中爱了两个男人，而她却没一个是了解的。如果她了解阿希礼，那她就不会爱他；如果她了解瑞特，那她就不会失去他。她一直以来是辜负瑞特的，她只是不停追寻着自己梦中的王子——阿希礼。她只是把自己爱的特点认为阿希礼有，她只是做了一件华丽的衣服，让阿希礼穿上，而后爱上他。而事实是，她爱的只是那件衣服。
　　对于她，我是不得不佩服的，佩服她的坚强，佩服她对土地的执着，佩服她能在那中环境下放下以前所受的教育下田干活，佩服她能不顾社会上的言论而开创自己的事业。她生命有几个灵魂，一个是她的母亲。他的母亲是一位非常能干、温柔的典型贵夫人，是她最敬佩的人。可是，母亲为了救人而被传染伤寒，去世了。另一个，是她十几年来最爱的人——阿希礼。她能在逆境中站起来，有很大一部分原因就是阿希礼。她对阿希礼是异常执着的。还有一个，就是玫兰妮。在一起奋斗的十几年里，玫兰妮已经成为她生命中不可缺少的一部分了。
　　我觉得斯佳丽就像个小孩子一样，对自己想要的东西异常执着，而对自己所拥有的东西却不屑一顾。一面在拼命让自己幸福，一面又不断地把幸福推离，把爱人推向深渊。
　　斯佳丽爱的是阿希礼，可是，阿希礼却不要她。就像瑞特说的，阿希礼是个君子，只是生在了一个和他格格不入的时代。他还是用旧世界的游戏规则生活，只会撞得一鼻子灰。斯佳丽不了解阿希礼，所以她爱他，想尽一切办法得到他，而当她认清他时，她再也不爱他了。
　　斯佳丽是个矛盾体，可又有谁不是矛盾体呢？她在生命的道路上一路走来，当她面对困难时，她选择迎接，当她面对责任时，她选择担负，可当她面对爱的抉择是，起初，他选择蒙蔽自己，当她终于认清，要面对时，却已为时已晚。而她，在无能为力时，就会告诉自己，明天是新的一天，明天一切都会好了，Tomorrow is another day。她在整个故事中，都是个充满生气、充满斗志的人。我最欣赏的，便是她的这句“Tomorrow is another day.”。永远充满了希望，充满斗志，永远不会放弃，永远不会绝望。这份精神，是最值得我学习的。所以，每当我遇到困难、心情不佳时，我便会告诉自己：“Tomorrow is another day.”。
　　书中另一个使我十分佩服的女性，便是玫兰妮。她是个外柔内刚的女性，她几乎拥有了女性所能拥有的一切美德。正如瑞特说的，她是他所见过的少数贵夫人中的一个。她是坚强的，她是爱国的，她用她的心爱身边所有的人。当她丈夫打仗时，她在后方默默守侯，做她力所能及的事，当北佬打进城而她又快要临盆时，她依然镇定，当她身体虚弱而没人下地干活快要没饭吃时，她和斯佳丽一样，放下过去所受的教育和优越感，拖着虚弱的身体下地干活，当她看到斯佳丽杀了一个北佬时，她没有惊慌失措，而是帮着掩埋尸体，搜查钱财，擦拭血迹，当战争终于结束，她痛恨的北佬士兵来到她门前要求照顾而她们自己也没有过多粮食时，她还是尽她所能地帮助他们，因为她希望在远方也有一个好心的北佬女人给她正在回家的丈夫一口饭吃。
　　如此一位坚强的女性，却又是如此的温柔善良和善解人意。她执着地相信斯佳丽和阿希礼，即使有人亲眼看见他们搂在一起，也执着地相信他们，保护斯佳丽。她明知自己的身体无法再承受生育的痛苦，却执着地要再为阿希礼生个孩子，最终离开了她爱了一辈子的亲人们。
　　真的是太伟大了，看着玫兰妮，使我想到许许多多的中国古代女性，她们也是如此的善良，任劳任怨，相夫教子，然后默默无名地老去、死去。
　　整部书中，我最为喜欢的人物就是瑞特。他勇敢、执着，他能那么深地爱着斯佳丽十几年不变。他想保护斯佳丽，宠爱斯佳丽，照料斯佳丽，让她事事称心，而斯佳丽却拒绝了。他说过，再永恒的爱也会有磨光的时候，而他的爱，是被斯佳丽，被阿希礼，被斯佳丽愚蠢的固执磨光的。他的心，死了。当他女儿离开他时，他的心，再也回不来了。他说过，他从来没有那个耐心把剪碎的裤子缝好，再告诉自己这就和新的一样，自欺欺人罢了。碎了就是碎了，再也回不去了，即使修好，上面仍然留有裂缝，再也不是原来那条了。
　　瑞特是个复杂的人，他有良好的家世，但却仍和旧时代格格不入，他有锐利的眼睛，可以在乱世找到自己的处身之道，他对国家有热情，即使他明知必败无疑，却仍在最后关头入了军。他爱斯佳丽，但他更了解斯佳丽，所以他从不说，只是通过行动表达，而斯佳丽却从来不想去了解他。最后，他绝望了，一次又一次的失望使他再也没有勇气再去尝试，他累了。
　　《飘》绝对是部值得再三品味的好书，文字优美，情节跌荡起伏、扣人心弦，虽然其中由于作者的主观因素，对于美国南北战争的评价并不客观和全面，但以文学角度来说，这绝对是一部绝世佳作，值得一看。
　　备注：中文后几段英文好像没有翻译，宁外《飘》英文名应该是《go with wind》
